Hello!

I am pleased to welcome you to my online portfolio. From the perspectives of a classroom teacher, learning support teacher, as well as a graduate student, I have come to appreciate the importance of creating caring learning communities where all students feel like they belong, and empowering students to be agents of their own learning. I have striven to demonstrate these fundamental elements throughout the various pages of this portfolio.  Please get to know me better as I share my personal background, teaching experience, and journey as a lifelong learner.

Let me introduce myself.

For the past eight years I’ve called Asia home. I’ve lived in South Korea, India, and most recently China. While living overseas, I’ve had the opportunity to visit remote villages, view famous attractions, and tour large cosmopolitan cities. Now that I have returned to the U.S., I look forward to continue exploring new places on this side of the hemisphere.

My professional teaching experience has primarily taken place in private international schools in Asia where I have had the pleasure to teach children and collaborate with other educators from literally all over the world. I’ve taught a number of children who were learning English as an additional language, as well as students with learning differences.

My latest learning endeavor has been the pursuit of a graduate degree from Michigan State University’s Masters of Arts in Education program, which I recently completed in May 2016. Through my rigorous studies, I have had the opportunity to learn, apply, and reflect upon evidenced-based methods that have impacted my teaching practice and perspective of current educational policies.
